it reminds me a lot of one of my favorite objects ever: an early Arikara Native American hide shield held in the collection of the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City

I have learned it dates to sometime between 1910-17 or so

There is a bit of paint loss--small spots on the back of the second deer

The set includes 16 clay and 1 wood marble and what I believe it a pretty old fabric pouch in which they came
