I was not prepared for the scale and weight--and terrific presence

this real photo postcard is incredibly evocative

with reinforced stitches around her arms and neck

the glass very thick and the frame well worn

Dangling Grapes, Mother with Child, Very Finely Painted c. 1850s Watercolor on Card PET pick Seems a good metaphor forMaybe not exactly my typical style, but this (and a second by the same maker listed separately) is amazing hard to understand scale from photos, but it took me getting out a magnifier to confirm it as a watercolor rather than a print, so finely and precisely executed. Perhaps there were once four of them, representing the four seasons? This mother, dangling grapes just out of reach of her child, a bounty of fruit beside her, seems to suggest summer,
